Technology and English Language Teaching

This project investigated use of technology for English language training (ELT) in 10 countries. Through surveys of English language teachers, interviews, and case studies, we sought to increase understanding of how local institutional and cultural factors, print media, and technology collectively contribute to ELT instructional practices. Our research questions included:

• How is technology currently being used in ELT?
• How do teachers integrate the resources into their regular teaching?
• What is the impact of technologies on print materials, and what is the relationship between the two?
• What factors are programs/teachers considering when choosing or rejecting technology in the classroom?
• How do local/regional/national/international imperatives impact the use of technology?
