UC Irvine Cal Teach Science and Math Program Receives Grant from Nicholas Foundation

The UC Irvine Cal Teach Science and Math Program has received a one-year, $50,000 grant from the Henry J. Nicholas III Foundation. The grant has been awarded for the following Cal Teach activities:

  1. Recruitment of talented math and science undergraduates to explore teaching as a career option through fieldwork-based seminars at UC Irvine and internships at the Discovery Science Center
  2. Support for the first cohort of UC Irvine Cal Teach pre-service teachers who will complete their student teaching and earn their credential at the end of Spring 2012
  3. Support for the mentor teachers in Santa Ana Unified School District, Tustin Unified School District, and Newport-Mesa Unified School district who are supervising the student teachers
