"Designing Professional Development for 21st Century Learning"
Lecturer Claudia Pineda has received the Faculty/Staff Ally of the Year Award from the UC Irvine Cross-Cultural Center as a result of her work with the Dreams at UCI student organization.
The Ally of the Year Award recognizes a faculty or staff member who has demonstrated a commitment to student development and has gone beyond his or her teaching and/or administrative role to address and advocate for the needs and concerns of underrepresented students within the UCI community. The award recipient is recognized as an individual who has provided students with the opportunities to explore issues regarding diversity, identity development, multicultural education, social justice, and leadership initiatives, which ultimately enhances the retention, matriculation, and success of historically underrepresented students.
Dreams at UCI advocates for the rights of undocumented students. Dr. Pineda's research focuses on adolescent development and social development.
