Multiple Subject Credential candidates and student representatives gathered in the Department of Education on February 10 to enjoy a noontime pizza party and create Valentine's Day cards for children at the Orangewood Children's Foundation (OCF), a shelter for children who are victims of abuse, neglect, and/or abandonment. The Valentine's Day project for OCF has become a yearly activity for students in the Multiple Subject Credential program. Multiple Subject Coordinator Christina Giguiere comments,
I encourage teacher candidates to engage in community service endeavors. There are multiple benefits -- to partner institutions, for personal growth, and from hands-on experience in support of academic studies and preparation for future teaching.
